Are you interested in increasing traffic to your website? If you’re like most web developers, there’s no such thing as too many visitors! However, creating a site that can be easily found by users truly interested in your content can be challenging. If you’re still on page who-knows-what on Google, try these strategies to improve that ever-important Google page ranking:

1. Search Engine Optimization
If you’re still keyword stuffing, it’s time to take a new approach to SEO. While you should always use popular keywords several times in your content, don’t overuse any single word or phrase. Use your main keyword in the first sentence if you can, and spread the rest out for an even distribution. Remember that many people misspell words during their search. Try a few variations in the spelling and different phrasings to see if you catch a few more browsers.

2. Unique Content
Both your readers and the search engines love fresh, unique content that is useful and engaging. While Google doesn’t really know how interesting your material is, it definitely knows if the text is copied from another webpage. The search results will automatically combine duplicate results into one result listing. Who wins in the duplicate content game? Surprisingly, it’s not always the site that first posted the content.

3. Use Meta Tags Wisely
When a user is presented with the search results, they often scan the descriptions in an attempt to make the best choice. The description shown for your site should be accurate and eye-catching to attract more traffic. If a user chooses your site based on the description and finds that it’s not truthful, they’ll quickly go back to choose a different result. While your traffic statistics will go up a little, you’ll be missing the most important traffic component: repeat visitors.

4. Use online Surveys
Utilize the online survey software tools to conduct surveys and gather data from the online community to get an idea how your online presence is performaing in the for of a site.

Although these are three of the most popular strategies used to drive traffic to a site, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
